Third Place Finish For Rushbrook

Mini Performance player Jack Rushbrook finished third in the Grade 5 Orange 9 and under Mixed Singles county event held at the Delta Tennis Centre in Swindon, Wiltshire. Rushbrook had a great start winning Group A beating Tristan Yemm 7-3, 7-2, Samuel Danby 7-0, 7-5 and Billy Hughes in three sets 7-4, 5-7, 7-2. Progressing to the Number 1’s round robin draw with the two other box winners, Rushbrook lost against Luke Hooper 7-1, 7-0 after taking a nasty and unfortunate tumble on court during the match. He then lost in a three setter against Victor Balgariev 7-5, 13-15, 7-1 and finished in a very respectable third place overall.

Earlier in the month Rushbrook was the consolation runner-up at the Grade 5 Everyday Orange Club Tournament at Halton Tennis Centre in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire. He went through to the main draw after finishing second in Group F, beating Leo McIntosh in three sets 4-7, 7-5, 8-6 but lost to Box winner Charlie Hines 7-4 8-6. In the consolation draw, Rushbrook had a bye in the first round then defeated Kane Roberts 7-5, 7-4 and Eashan Raja in a three set battle 5-7, 7-5, 10-8. In the finals Rushbrook was unlucky in another three setter losing to James Styles 3-7, 7-5, 7-5 so finished as runner-up.
