Silvers for Da Silva and Reid

Totally Tennis Mini Performance player Kirsty Da Silva finished in the runner-up spot at the Grade 4 Kingsley 9 and under Girls tournament. Da silva played really well, winning Box B confidently beating Talitha Mitchell 7-5, 7-4 and Bo Edwards 7-1, 7-5. After receiving a bye in the quarters, she beat her opponent Georgia Ifil in straight sets 7-0, 7-5 in the semis and then lost in a very tight encounter in the final to Hannah Reid 8-6, 7-1 in the final. Clubmates Melissa Toner and Amberly Chapman also competed in the event. After winning one and losing one match in the group stages Toner beat Mitchell in the quarters 1-7, 7-2, 8-6 then losing to Reid in the semis 7-1, 7-5 and then finishing in third place overall after beating Ifil in the third/fourth place playoffs 7-5, 7-1. Chapman left the event at the group stages and then beat Edwards in the consolation draw 7-0, 4-7, 7-3.

Sue Da Silva said, “Kirsty narrowly lost the first set 8-6 and the second 7-1, although that score doesn’t reflect the high standard of the points played! I’m a very proud mum again!Kirsty 2nd Place at Kingsley Grade 4 The previous week Da Silva was also runner-up at the Grade 5 West Worthing tournament in the 9 and under event. She won Group A beating Mitchell 7-3, 10-8 and Ella Bloomfield 7-2, 7-0. In the semi-finals she defeated Emma Videv 9-7, 7-1 before Mitchell gained her revenge and won the final in a three set battle 7-5, 3-7, 7-2.

Fellow mini performance player Tillie Reid was runner-up in the Grade 4 girls Oxfordshire 10 and U Girls Singles County Tournament held at the White Horse Leisure & Tennis Centre in Oxford. In the quarter finals Reid beat Susanna Wright 4-0, 4-0 followed by Phoebe Mitchell in the semi-finals 4-2, 4-1. In the finals, Reid lost to Lilac Jervis 4-2, 4-0 to finish as runner-up.
