British number ones Andy Murray and Heather Watson suffered a defeat in their Mixed Doubles match today in the Hopman Cup in Perth against Group B undefeated leaders Poland to lose the fixture 2-1 overall. Watson lost her singles match against Agnieszka Radwanska 6-3, 6-1 but Murray made short work of Jerzy Janowicz 6-2, 6-4 to even up the scoresheet. With both teams winning their first group matches there was everything to play for in the final doubles match today. World number five Radwanska and Janowicz maintained their unbeaten record winning 6-4, 6-4 in what was described as a highly entertaining mixed doubles match.

With two wins under their belt the Polish team look like they are on track to make the finals again this year after finishing runners-up to France in the 2014 final. It’s not all over for the Great Britain team just yet as a win over Australian on Friday and a Polish defeat by France means they could still win the group and make the finals.
