Isla Wins in Weybridge

Mini Performance player Isla Hignett beat the top two seeds to win the 12 & under Girls Singles event at the South East Junior tournament last Sunday at Weybridge Tennis Academy in Surrey.

Playing in the compass draw, Hignett had a bye in the quarter-finals and then defeated number one seed Georgia Lancaster, who also had a bye in her first match, in the semi-finals winning 4-1, 5-4 (7-3) and in the final she beat second seed Parami Aye 4-1, 5-3.

Head coach James McIntosh who coaches Isla said, “Isla did really well to win the Grade 5 event at Weybridge last weekend. It was great that she was able to beat both the number one and number two seeds, who both have a higher rating than her.” he added, “Isla has been constantly improving all areas of her game during her lessons and hopefully this win will give her added¬†confidence in future tournaments“.
