Roger Federer won his seventh Dubai Championship title on Saturday beating world number one Novak Djokovic 6-3, 7-5 in the final. This latest result gives also gives Federer an impressive 126th ATP title. World number five and British number one Andy Murray, 27 was beaten in a shock defeat in the Dubai event at the quarter-final stage by 18-year-old Croatian Borna Coric 6-1, 6-3. Federer then beat Coric in the semis.
The previous week top seed Simona Halep beat Karolina Pliskova in the women’s final 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) to win her first Dubai title.
Over in Argentina, Rafael Nadal won the Argentina Open in Buenos Aires (ATP Copa Telmex event) beating home favourite Argentinian Juan Monaco in the final 6-4, 6-1. This latest victory gives Nadal his 46th career clay-court title and moves him up to third in the World Rankings.
