It’s not only Grand Slam season on the world tour but also at Totally Tennis. As the world’s top players prepared to take to the clay courts at the French Open at the Roland Garros stadium in Paris, junior players at Totally Tennis were competing in their own Grand Slam French Open event as part of the clubs TT Tour schedule. Always lots to play for in the Grand Slam events at the club for the young players as 1,000 points on offer for the winner and 500 for the runners-up to add to their leaderboard totals.
In the Red event, Daniel Ward was the overall winner beating Hayden Cummings 10-8, Faith Tompkins 10-4 and Lewis Miller 10-5 and Cummings finished as runner-up defeating Tompkins 10-5 and Miller 10-5. Tompkins was third beating Miller 10-5.
In the orange event, Atinuke Adelakun was declared the winner after beating Mohan Thondapu 7-4, 7-2 but losing to Dylan Hall-Jones 2-7, 7-2, 7-9. Thondapu beat runner-up Hall-Jones 7-3, 2-7, 7-4.
Coach Ben Jubin said, “It was a shame not to see more players competing in this Grand Slam event but I am really pleased with the standard of tennis of those that did. I hoping to see more players in our Wimbledon event next month. Congratulations everyone.”
