The Basingstoke & District Tennis League finals took place recently and the mens singles was won by Luke Watts from Waverley who defeated Beechdown’s Chris Harrold 3-6, 7-6 (11-9), 6-2 in the final to take the title for the first time. The ladies singles former Totally Tennis players and sisters from Waverley Tennis club, Kelsey Mosquera up against her younger sister Jordan. Kelsey won the match 6-1, 6-0 to be crowned the champion
The Men’s doubles saw a near repeat of last years final with defending champions Dan Cole and Chris Pearce from Kingsclere taking on Old Basing’s Phil Dixon and his new partner James Chamberlin. The Kingsclere pair took title the title winning the match 6-4, 6-4. The Mosquera sisters teamed up in the ladies doubles to play against defending champions Andrea Butcher and Clare Munns from Beechdown. Kelsey and Jordan won the first set 6-0 but the more experienced pair won the next two sets 6-0, 6-2 to win the event.
In the mixed doubles final, defending champions Watts and Mosquera took on Totally Tennis’ Tim Rice and Emma Barnes. The Waverley pair proved too strong for the first time finalists and they won 6-1, 6-3.
