Totally Tennis held it’s World’s Biggest Coffee morning event in support of Macmillan Cancer Support alongside the clubs’ regular Friday Mixed Morning session last week. Twelve players enjoyed the drills and matchplay session followed by coffee and cakes, with the club raising just over £180 (to date) to contribute to the charity’s goal to meet its 2016 target of £8 million. Tea and cakes were served throughout the day for parents of squad players too. The club has been a regular supporter of this annual event, raising money to donate to the charity which improves the lives of people and their families affected by cancer.
In 2015 the charity celebrated the 25th anniversary of the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning raising a whopping £27.6 million in the process. The annual event, which the club has always supported has become part of the club’s charity event calendar, encouraging its players to get fit and healthy whilst raising money for a good cause and do a little baking too. There are now 2.5 million people in the UK living with cancer and it’s estimated that by 2030 that figure will be closer to 4 million people.
