Happy New Year from Totally Tennis!

Everyone at the club is not only celebrating the start of 2017 but also the announcement that Totally Tennis are one of sixteen nominees in the prestigious ‘Club of the Year’ category at the annual Basingstoke Sports Council awards. The award, which the club last won in 2004, will be part one of the many awards that will be presented by Basingstoke Sports Council chairman Kevin Laing at the Apollo Hotel, Basingstoke in early March.

It’s a double whammy as well as the ‘Club of The Year’ nomination Head Coach James Macintosh has been selected as a nominee in the professional ‘Coach of the Year‘ category too. Other awards include the Voluntary Sports Coach of the Year, Senior and Junior Team, Service to Sport, Sports Official, Senior and Junior Volunteer, Disabled Sportsperson, Primary and Secondary School of the Year, Junior and Senior Sportsman or Woman and Veteran Sportsman and Woman of the Year.

The annual Basingstoke and Deane Sports Awards event is a highlight of the local sporting calendar organised and hosted by Laing. The awards, which have been going for over twenty-five years celebrate the success of clubs, teams, coaches, officials, volunteers and individuals involved in sport in the Basingstoke and Deane area. Alongside the awards and scholarships, sportsmen and women can receive funding like the Hignetts, via the Sports Grant Aid scheme, which is funded by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council. The funds can be used to help with everything from travelling and coaching expenses to competition entry fees, equipment and clothing requirements.
