Hignett Competes in Bath

Totally Tennis performance player Liam Hignett, 17 competed in Aegon British Tour Bath in the Grade 1 Men’s Open Singles competition.
Eighth seed Hignett, who is a Sherfield School Tennis Scholar and sponsored by Mantis Sport, played in the qualifying event last Monday. After a bye in the first round  he then  defeated Ben Battey 7-5, 6-4 in round two.  The following day he played his third qualifying match losing against tenth seed Matthew Summers 6-3, 6-2 but still progressed to the main draw as a lucky loser.

He won his first main draw match against qualifer Michael Owen 6-4 6-3 but his luck ran out on the fourth day when he lost to sixth seed Sean Hodkin 6-2, 7-5.  The event was won by second seed Luke Oakley.
