Totally Tennis performance players Isla Hignett, Jasmin Bromilow and Tillie Reid were part of the victorious Hampshire & IOW team that won the 14 and under Girls County Cup 2018 regional playoffs over the long weekend.
The girls were joined by fellow Hampshire players Hannah Smith, Anna Vinnell and Martyna Ciubatiuk that made up the team of six who competed against Northamptonshire and Cambridgeshire in Box B. On the first day the girls won all their matches to beat Northamptonshire 6-0 and then went to win the doubles against Cambridgeshire that evening with Smith/Vinnell winning 6-1, 6-3 and Hignett/Reid winning 6-0, 6-4.
The following day the team contested the singles matches against the Cambridgeshire with Smith and Vinnell winning but as both Hignett and Bromilow lost the overall score was 4-2 to Hampshire. With two wins the team in the group stages the team qualified for the regional play offs against Shropshire, who were the winners of Box A, on Bank Holiday Monday.
In the singles Smith, Vinell and Hignett all recorded wins with only Bromilow unlucky with her result but with a 3-1 scoreline going into the doubles matches the team only needed one more win. Number one player Smith picked up an injury so Hignett/Vinnell were the top pairing and won 6-2, 6-1 and with Bromilow/Reid also winning 7-6(3) 6-2 it was 5-1 overall to the Hampshire team and qualification for the National Finals!
The girls will now compete in those National Finals in Nottingham later this month over the weekend of 18th-20th May – Congratulations Girls 😉
