Tip 15: Using the Drop Shot

Some of you would have seen the drop shot used at the French Open. The drop shot is very effective on a slower surface when you have a shorter ball and the opponent is far back behind the baseline. To hit an effective drop shot try to get your racket face to come under the ball to create backspin so the ball will slow down, you want to get the ball to land shorter on the court and not to go too high over the net.

Wrong –
Racket face is too open and the ball will go too high, giving the opponent more time to get there.

Correct – Racket angle is in a good position to create the backspin on the ball.
