Coach Dom joined the team at Hampshire Court Spa & Leisure Sport Relief for their efforts to raise money for Sport Relief.
The club’s Fitness Fiasco 3 event took place on Friday 13th March along with a charity bake sale. Sessions, which took place from 6am to the evening, included bootcamps, combat, spin, aqua sessions, yoga, dance, volleyball, zumba along with the tennis session with Dom.
Sport Relief was created to harness the power of sport and raise money to help people who need it the most in the UK and around the world. Charities such as mental health, child poverty, domestic abuse and helping people have a safe place to live all benefit from the money raised. Since the last Sport Relief in 2018, £82 million has been invested to support people living incredibly tough lives in the UK and around the world.

The Totally Tennis Hampshire Court coaching team, who run weekly sessions at Old Basing Tennis Club and an after school club St Mary’s Junior School in the village, were part of last weekend’s annual Old Basing Carnival. Free mini tennis sessions for juniors and adults were offered encouraging lots of of people of all ages to get on court and try tennis.
In other news, the coaching team are running a summer term exclusive at Hampshire Court for junior players. For the remaining six weeks of the summer term players can play for just £30.00. Spaces are limited so be sure to book quickly – once they are gone, they are gone!
Adults players aren’t forgotten either with all new players offered a FREE session. Whether you are planning on returning to tennis or are a keen regular tennis player, it’s time to dust off your racket as we have something for everyone every day of the week!

Hampshire Court Ladies A team were crowned Division One champions of the Basingstoke and District Tennis League Winter Season with an impressive seven wins and one draw over the season.
The team won their final match of the season with a top of the table clash against Goodworth Clatford which ended in a 7 – 1 victory for the Hampshire Court team.
It has been a great team performance from Sally Cackett, Julie Frankland, Emma Giddings, sisters Jordan and Kelsey Mosquera, Bianca Walker, Elaine Witham and Tina Wood who won fifty-five sets overall losing just nine in their first winter season in Division 1, even more impressive to finish the season as champions.

Team Captain Tina Wood said “I want to thank all the ladies for playing in the Ladies A team this winter season. We concluded the season with yet another win.” She added “Division 1 Champions in our first season up there! What a result!”
The next challenge for the Hampshire Court team will be the Summer League where they face more tough opposition against teams such as Andover, Oakley and Old Basing.

Running at both the Indoor Centre in War Memorial Park and Hampshire Court in Chineham from 15th – 19th February, sessions can be booked as morning, afternoon or full day. Tennis camps give children plenty of opportunity to keep active and the camps are not only tennis orientated, although that is the main focus, but combine a variety of sports including swimming (Hampshire Court only), there really is something for everyone.
Tennis camps are great fun and include lots of games and mini-competitions for both new and experienced players for children aged 4 – 16 years in a safe environment with qualified licensed and experienced LTA coaches.

Hampshire Court – 9.00am – 4.00pm (8.30am drop off/4.00pm – 4.30pm pick up)
Each child should dress appropriately for tennis activities and need to bring a packed lunch, drinks and swimming kit (Hampshire Court only). Children will be supervised throughout the day, including lunch breaks and swimming sessions. Rackets will be provided for those who need one. Please note refunds will only be given with 24 hours notice and sessions need a minimum number of participants in order to take place. As a result of a cancellation by Totally Tennis an alternative will be offered.

Hampshire Court’s Mini Performance player Eduard Lakatos won the Boys 9 and under South East Junior Tournament held at Guildford Tennis Academy at the end of last month. In the round robin stage, Lakatos won Group B beating Niall Hillwood 7-0, 7-3, Jake Loy 7-5, 7-3 Jake Loy and Hayden Davey 7-5, 7-2. Progressing through to the main draw Group C he defeated runner up Billy Johnson in the semi-finals 7-6, 7-6 and then won the final beating Tom Lyle 7-6, 7-5 to take the title.
Hampshire Court Head Coach Shyam Vithlani who coaches Lakatos said, “This was a great win for Eduard and he was rewarded with a top Orange 1* rating as well as the title.”
Lakatos the competed in the South East Junior Tour 9 and U Mixed event at Hawker Tennis in Surrey finishing as consolation runner-up. He lost in the first round of the main draw against Louis Hunting 7-1, 7-4 and then competed in the consolation event. In the quarter-final he beat Leonardo Sorrentino 7-1, 3-7, 7-4 and then Charlie Wiltshire in the semi final 7-3, 7-2 before losing in the final against Stanley Sterne 7-1, 3-7, 7-2.
A player moves from a level 1 to level 1* once he/she has recorded a further 20 wins against Orange level 1 or 1* players in competitions graded 1 – 5*
The Hampshire Court Ladies Vets team finished fifth overall in Division 1 of the Babolat Hampshire and Isle of Wight Seniors Doubles League after a mixed season of results. In their final match of this years league they faced tough opposition from the West Hants Club ladies from Bournemouth who have won all their matches and will be crowned winners of Division 1. The home fixture saw Sandie Benham, Lesley Miotto, Elaine Whitham and Sally Clackett in action and even though it was a great match the result went to the Bournemouth ladies 4-0 (49 – 25 games).
Bentham and Miotto lost to Carol Dickie/Alison Hockey 7-5, 6-3 and were beaten by Wendy Hewitt/Sue West 6-4, 6-2. Whitham and Clackett suffered a similar fate losing 6-2, 6-4 to Hewitt/West and 6-2, 6-3 against Dickie/Hockey.
Miotto said “We had a really good match and put up a very spirited and enjoyable fight, but lost!”

The Hampshire Court Ladies Vets team had an excellent result against the Milford-on-Sea Ladies Vets team last Thursday after their recent run of bad luck in the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Babolat Veterans 40+ Summer League.
In the home fixture at Hampshire Court, Bev Cleaver and Sandie Benham won 6-1, 6-3, then 7-5, 6-4 and Elaine Whitham with partner Julie Frankland won their matches 6-4, 6-4 and 6-1, 6-0 giving the team a resounding 4-0 overall victory (Sets 8-0 and games 49 – 22). The ladies now have one last fixture remaining against West Hants Club also on home turf later this week.
