The Macca Tournament

Head Coach James McIntosh is running the Virgin Money London Marathon to raise awareness and much needed funds for Pancreatic Cancer UK in memory of his father who sadly passed away from the disease just three weeks after diagnoses.

Although the marathon, which was supposed to take place on 26th April, has been postponed due to COVID-19 McIntosh will continue to raise money for Pancreatic Cancer UK and keep training. The marathon is now scheduled to take place on Sunday 4th October.

Last Friday saw players gather together to compete in ‘The Macca’, an adult American doubles tournament to raise money towards McIntosh’s £2,500 target. The tournament was played in a round robin mixed doubles format where players are paired at random and rotate collecting games on the way. The event was won by Nick Pogmore who had the most games after the four rotations.

McIntosh said, “Thank you to everyone that came to the tournament on Friday and congratulations to Nick who won the event with the highest score over the four rounds.” he added, “It was a fun evening of tennis followed by drinks and we raised a total of £186 for Pancreatic Cancer UK.”
