The challenges and games can be performed at home, some solo and others with a member of your household. You just need rackets and a ball (plus a wall for the solo exercises). Got a mini tennis net? Set up a makeshift court in the garden and keep practising you shots.

As part of the successful Totally Tennis schools programme Head Coach James McIntosh visited local schools to deliver tennis assemblies, all the pupils involved were then invited to attend a FREE junior tennis open day. Part of the LTA Big Tennis Weekends initiative, open days are designed to give children an opportunity to try tennis at a club on real tennis courts with LTA qualified coaches.
Head coach James McIntosh said, “The event went really well and it was great to give so many children the opportunity to play tennis at the centre and for some it was their first time in picking up a racket.” he added, ” Since the event Totally Tennis has managed to expand its schools programme with the introduction of an after schools club at St Johns which we are looking forward to getting started next week.”
The Totally Tennis schools programme has not only given children the opportunity to play tennis but also produced countless players and coaches over the years. Some of these players have represented their respective schools and the club in many competitions, even winning National titles. The club also runs curriculum and after school sessions as well as the annual schools tournaments at the indoor centre.

Father and son duo Hayden and Ben Cummings won the Quorn™ Family Cup 2019 event held at the indoor centre yesterday. The Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) event, run by coach Miles Bromilow, is a family tournament that give players the opportunity to compete in an informal and fun competition with an adult family member. The event also promotes playing tennis more frequently and eat healthy food as part of an active lifestyle.
Sixteen players entered the competition playing in two boxes of four pairings. The top two teams in each box progressed to the semis and the bottom two played consolation matches against each other. The Cummings, who also won the event back in 2016, defeated Roksana and Chris Jelonek in the final 10-5.
Bromilow who said, “We had a great turnout and lots of prizes were given out. Congratulations to our winning pair Hayden and Ben.”
As club winner’s Hayden and Ben will be invited to a Red Ball Festival Day hosted at an LTA Summer Grass Court event in June. The Festival Days include some more, fun Red Ball tennis as well as goodies and prizes for all the junior players. After enjoying lunch, players and parents are free to enjoy watching the professional players in action.

The Totally Tennis 10 and under Mixed team competed in the first match of the Hampshire & IOW Winter Junior League 2018 – 2019 against Portsmouth Tennis Centre yesterday.
The team, who were without a fourth player, of Nikesh Bomer and twins Gevin and Guhan Chendhilkumar travelled to Portsmouth last weekend. In the singles Guhan won 4-1, 4-0 but both Gevin and Nikesh lost 5-3, 1-4, 10-8 and 4-1, 4-0 respectively. In the doubles the twins lost 4-0, 4-0 and with the missing fourth player’s matches conceded the Portsmouth team won overall 4-2.
Other teams competing in the league are David Lloyd Southampton A, David Lloyd Southampton B, Winchester Racquets and Fitness and Portsmouth Tennis Academy. Totally Tennis’ next match is away at Portsmouth Tennis Academy on 30th September.
Neel Chandrasekar and his father Chandri were the winners of The Quorn™ Family Tennis Cup that took place at the indoor centre on Saturday run by performance player and assistant coach Miles Bromilow.
Even thought there was a disappointing turnout in terms of entries the juniors and their respective parents enjoyed their matches. The Chandrasekars beat Roksana Jelonek and her father Chris 10-6 and Aaditya Kumar and his father Raj 10-2. The Jeloneks were runners-up after they defeated the Kumars 10-6.
The Chandrasekars have won the opportunity to spend a day at a LTA grass court major event in June. In addition to watching all the on court action, they will also have the chance to play against other winners on the day.
Bromilow said of the event, “I would like to congratulate all of the competitors and especially Neel and his father for winning this Years Quorn Family Cup” he added, “The winning pair will now enjoy one of the LTAs premier grass court events and play against other event winners. Good Luck!!”

The Quorn™ Family Tennis Cup will be taking place at Totally Tennis’ indoor centre on Saturday 21st April run by performance player and assistant coach Miles Bromilow.
This nationwide Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) event is designed to give families the opportunity to play tennis in an informal, fun competition run at their local venue such as Totally Tennis. It not only encourages families to play more tennis together but also to eat healthy food to complement an active lifestyle.
All juniors players aged 10 & under can enter along with an adult family member to compete in the red ball competition, it can be any adult family member (aged 18 or over) such as a parent, guardian, uncle, auntie, sibling or grandparent.
There will be plenty of prizes on offer and the winners will have the opportunity to spend a day at a LTA grass court major event in June. In addition to watching all the on court action, the winning pair will also have the chance to play against other winners on the day.

The tournament will start at 1:00 pm and will run till approximately 4:00pm (dependent on number of entries). The cost of the event will be £10 per pair. Please call reception on 01256 358816 to book.
Bromilow said of the upcoming event, “The Quorn Family Cup provides the perfect opportunity for our young players to compete with a family member against their club mates.” he added, “I’m looking forward to seeing who will be more competitive, the juniors or the adults.”
“As well as being a fun event, the winners will also get to experience one of the UK’s major grass court events and get a close up of what it takes to be a professional player.”

Five girls competed in this year’s Totally Tennis HSBC Road to Wimbledon (U14) club event which was won by Isla Hignett with Tillie Reid finishing as runner-up. Hignett won all her matches beating Reid 4-1, 4-0, Amberly Chapman 4-0, 4-0, Atinuke Adelakun 4-0, 4-0 and Kirsty Da Silva 4-0, 4-0. Reid beat Da Silva 4-0, 5-3 and both Adelakun and Chapman 4-0, 4-0. Hignett will now play in the county finals which will take place over the weekend of 15th & 16th July at Canoe Lakes in Southsea. Reid will have to wait and see if she makes the final as one of the lucky runners-up.
Head Coach James Macintosh said “Congratulations to Isla who has managed to qualify for the county event for the second year running.” he added, “Also well done to Tillie who was the runner up this year and hopefully she will get the opportunity to take part in the county finals for the first time“.
The two winners (boy and girl) of each County Final will be invited to play at Wimbledon from 14th – 19th August in the National Finals (an additional four lucky losers from the County Finals will also be invited to the National Finals). Hignett will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of her former Totally Tennis players and her older brother Liam who played at the National Finals in 2014.
The HSBC Road to Wimbledon is the biggest junior tournament in British tennis and gives all 14U players the opportunity to progress through to compete on the world famous grass courts at Wimbledon. Local clubs, parks and schools are encouraged to enter and stage a tournament for their members/pupils rated between 10.2 and 7.1. For stronger rated players (6.2 or higher) there is the HSBC Road to Wimbledon International event which players can enter directly.
