Tennis is a sport for everyone – Play for FREE at Totally Tennis on Saturday 12th May

Try tennis for FREE at Totally Tennis this coming weekend (Saturday 12th May 2018) as part of the Law Tennis Assosication’s national Great British Tennis Weekend (GBTW) events. There will be something to suit the whole family at the indoor centre located in Basingstoke’s War Memorial Park including Mini Tennis, Juniors and Adults sessions as well as lots of other fun activities to keep the whole family entertained.

Don’t worry if you don’t have your own rackets as all equipment will be provided – just come along and enjoy the fun, whether you’ve never picked up a racket before or you’re a regular player.

Saturday 12 May – 10:00 – 15:00

We are running different sessions throughout the day for juniors (all ages), adults only and for families too. No need to worry if it rains, with four indoor and four outdoor courts we play tennis all year round ! Our coaches are all LTA qualified, CRB checked and great fun ! Please book onto a session or register that you will be coming along and we look forward to meeting you at our open day.

Mini Tennis – Under 9’s (10:00am – 11:00am)

Children between 3 and 8 years old can get stuck into the world of tennis with an exciting programme from the LTA sponsored by Highland Spring. With smaller courts, nets and rackets and lower bouncing balls, LTA Mini Tennis offers the perfect introduction to the sport, with all the fun and energy of the real thing.

Try our adult coaching taster session. Ideal for people new to the sport or who haven’t picked up a racket in a long time. You can borrow our rackets if you don’t have your own, just come prepared to hit a few balls and have some fun.

Great British Tennis Weekend at Stratton Park

Families were invited to play tennis for FREE at Totally Tennis on  Sunday 17th July at Stratton Park as part of this year’s Lawn Tennis Associations (LTA) Great British Tennis Weekend (GBTW). Along with other tennis centres across the country, the club offered free tennis and coaching for people of all ages and abilities, the perfect day out for family and friends. The sessions at Stratton Park followed on from the first event held at the War Memorial Park back in May.

There were three seasons run by Head Coach James Macintosh, Munchkins  and Adults, Juniors and players with disabilities and Family time which was attended by forty people overall.

The GBTW scheme is designed to get people outdoors and trying tennis for free this summer at various locations countrywide on three summer weekends. Thousands of free events took place across the country for the whole family offering players the chance to experience Highland Spring Mini Tennis, Cardio Tennis, coaching and relaxed free play.

Great British Tennis Weekend 2016

All the family can play tennis for FREE at Totally Tennis on Saturday 14th May  and Sunday 17th July as part of this year’s Lawn Tennis Associations (LTA) Great British Tennis Weekend (GBTW). Along with other tennis centres across the country, the club will be offering free tennis and coaching for people of all ages and abilities, the perfect day out for family and friends. Sessions on 14th May will be available for adults, juniors and families at the indoor centre in the War Memorial Park, Basingstoke from 10:am – 4.45pm as follows:

Mini and Junior Tennis

Lots of fun for junior players in two different sessions, 10 and under and 10+ as follows……

Mini Tennis – Children between 3 and 10 years old can get stuck into the world of mini tennis with smaller courts, nets and rackets and lower bouncing balls. LTA Mini Tennis offers the perfect introduction to the sport, with all the fun and energy of the real thing.

10:00am – 11:00am

Junior 10+ – No matter what your ability you will ll have fun on court with of junior players your age. Coaches will be on hand to offer tips to help your game and advice on how you can continue to play.

11:00am – 12:30pm

Family Time 

It’s time to get on court with your family and have some fun. Modified balls and rackets will be provided for the younger ones and coaches will be on hand to give the whole family some pointers if you want them.

2.00 – 3.30pm Tennis Bonanza – this will be a drills & coaching session – cost £5 (pre-book at reception or just turn up).
3.30 – 4.30pm Coaches Exhibition Match – all the coaches will be taking part.
In addition the club’s Wimbledon ballot will take place at 4.30pm and all eligible BTMs will be entered into the draw followed by a BBQ (BBQ – £5 please book & pay at reception in advance as we need to know numbers for catering.)

Great British Tennis Weekend 2015 in Pictures

A sunny afternoon was the perfect setting for this years Great British Tennis Weekend (GBTW) event at Totally Tennis’ last Saturday, where approximately fifty people of all ages and abilities were welcomed to pick up a racket and play tennis for free on both the indoor and outdoor courts in the War Memorial Park.

Lots of families were on court enjoying the fun and games aided by the team of coaches. Young players enjoyed the free balloons, wristbands and face painting. Cakes, teas and ice creams were also sold at the community event.

Tennis Director Nigel Long said ”It was great to see so many new players as well as some of our regulars. We hope they enjoyed themselves and will return to join some sessions in our programme here at the indoor centre.”
