Another Doubles Title for Isla and Tillie

Performance player Isla Hignett and Tillie Reid won the 18 and under Girls Doubles title at the White Horse Indoor Junior Winter Tennis Tournament held in Oxford.

In the round robin event the pair beat  Lola-Juliet Omran and Youka Togashi 4-1, 4-3(3) and Kirsty Da Silva and Darcy Herring Johnson 4-1, 4-1 to win the event.

The girls will return to the White Horse Leisure & Tennis Centre in the New Year to compete in the 18 and under Girls Singles on the 4th January where Hignett is second seed and Reid is fourth.

Isla and Atinkue Win Hampshire Schools Doubles Title

Totally Tennis performance players Isla Hignett and Atinuke Adelakun from Robert Mays School won the Hampshire Schools U16’s Doubles Event beating club mates with Tillie Reid and Jasmin Bromilow (Sherfield School) in the final.

The girls won their first match against the Hampshire Collegiate pair, then beat a pair from St Swithen’s and won the semi-final against Toynbee. They won 10-8 against Tillie and Jasmin in the final.  Aaron Dawson and Daniel Prickett (Sherfield School) were winners of the boys event beating the pair from Wilderness School in the final. There were fourteen girls and sixteen boys pairs competing and overall a great day for Totally Tennis as six of the eight finalists were from the club.

It was the first time ever that a Robert Mays girls pairing have won the competition, Tillie and Jasmin had won the event in the previous two years.

Hignett & Reid Play in Latest South West Winter County Tour

Totally Tennis performance players Isla Hignett and Tillie Reid competed in the 18 and under Girls Doubles event, part of the latest South West Winter County Tour, at Totally Tennis Basingstoke run by coach Liam Hignett.

Five pairs entered the event and the Totally Tennis pair beat Ridah Nayeemullah and Lucy Peer 4-3(1), 4-1 but were unlucky in their other three matches and finished fourth overall. Second seeds Martyna Ciubatiuk and Magda Kornijczuk were the overall winners.

The next event in the series is the Mens and Womens Open that takes place on 11th November

Hignett and Reid Win Doubles Title in Witney

Totally Tennis performance players Isla Hignett and Tillie Reid won the 18 and under Girls doubles title at the Witney Open Junior Tennis Tournament 2018 held at the Witney Lawn Tennis Club in Oxfordshire last week.

The Grade 4 tournament was played in a round robin format and the winning pair beat club mates Jasmin Bromilow and Kirsty Da Silva 4-0, 4-2 and Michaela Shakespeare and Susanna Wright 4-2, 4-3(1) to win overall. Bromilow and Da Silva were runners-up after beating Shakespeare/Wright in three sets 4-2, 2-4, 10-7.

image1.jpegBoth Reid, who was top seed and Da Silva also competed in the 14 and under Girls singles event. Reid finished runner-up after defeating Isabella Taylor in the quarters 4-0, 4-1 followed by Patrisia Radan in the semis 4-3(4), 4-3(3) but losing out in the final against second seed  Alisha Tejrar 4-1, 4-1. Da Silva lost in the quarters against Shakespeare 4-1, 4-1.

Second Place Finish For Kirsty and Jasmin

Totally Tennis performance players Kirsty Da Silva and Jasmin Bromilow were runners-up in the 18 and under Girls Doubles at the Ash Manor Easter Open.

Da Silva, who won the 14 and under Girls Singles title on opening day of the week long tournament, teamed up with Bromilow to compete in the Grade 4 event held on Good Friday at Ash Manor Tennis Centre near Guildford. The duo, who were second seeds, beat fellow Totally Tennis club mate Tillie Reid and her partner Sienna Boyce in the semi finals in a close match with both sets going to tie-breaks 5-4(4), 5-4(2).

In the final they faced the strong pairing of Azra Ozerin and Shanice Weekes who were the top seeds and they lost 4-0, 4-0 to finish as very creditable runners-up.

Sue Da Silva, Kirsty’s mum said, “Kirsty and Jasmin both played really well but the top pair were just too good on the day.”

Half Term Runners-Up Title for Hignett and Reid

Totally Tennis performance players Isla Hignett and Tillie Reid were runners-up in the 14 and under Girls Doubles event held at the David Lloyd Southampton October Half Term Tournament. In the round robin event the girls played three matches beating Magda Kornijczuk and Thea Sprawson 4-1, 4-1, Grace Williams and Katy Jarvis 5-3, 4-2. but lost to overall winners Paulina Jurkowska and Annalise Smith 4-0, 4-2. 

The pair were also third in the Haslemere 16U Doubles Winter County Tournament held earlier this month. In the quarters, the girls beat Giulia Lesa and Valentina Carrier 4-1, 4-2 but unfortunately then lost in the semis to eventual runners-up Grace Williams and Katy Jarvis 4-3(4), 4-2. The girls went onto win the third/fourth playoff match beating Kira Turpin and Elle Wright 4-0, 4-0 to finish in third place overall.

Da Silva Wins Doubles Title in Oxford

Totally Tennis performance player Kirsty Da Silva (pictured left) and her partner Amelia Pirt won the Grade 4 Leys Junior Doubles 16 and under title at Leys Recreation Ground in Oxford on Sunday.

Da Silva, 12 and Pirt, 11 were the only pair to win all their three matches in the round robin competition. They beat Isabel and Georgia Black 4-2, 2-4 [10-7], Michaela Shakespeare and Oyinkansolami Durowoju 5-4(1), 2-4, [10-6] and Holly Craig and Beatrice Painter 4-1, 4-1 to win the event.
