TT Tour 2020

The TT Tour is back for 2020 giving all Totally Tennis squad players the opportunity to play in regular competitions held at the indoor centre. Tournaments will be held throughout the year and the top eight players from each squad will be invited back for the Grand Finals in November for a chance to finish as the club’s champion in each age group!

The tournament dates for the first months of the year have been released with the first events scheduled for next weekend (Saturday 25th/Sunday 26th January). Players are invited to compete in the different tournaments based on ball colour and squads –  RED (Pirates, Indians, Red Squad), ORANGE (Dodgers and Orange Squad), GREEN (Giants and Green Squad) and YELLOW (A,B,C and Performance Squads).

The TT Tour is a competition programme for Totally Tennis junior players with several tournaments held throughout the year. See the schedule below for full list of date of competitions for Red & Orange and Green & Yellow players. An up-to-date leaderboard will show each player’s rankings in each group. Points are awarded to the winner, runner-up and third/fourth place players for each event as well as additional points for entering.

PLAYERS MUST BOOK IN BEFORE THE EVENT. There must be a minimum of 4 players per age group for each tournament to be played. Each event costs £6.50 per player. All players interested in participating can book in reception or call the office on 01256 358816.

First Win For Hayden

Totally Tennis mini performance player and reigning TT Tour orange champion Hayden Cummings competed in his first green ball tournament at the Maidenhead Junior Open 2018 earlier this month and he WON it!

Cummings, who was playing in the Grade 4 tournament held at Maidenhead Lawn Tennis Club, competed in Group B in the first stage of the 10 and under Mixed Singles competition. He won all his four of his matches defeating Jasper Tong 4-0, Pavana Nrshinga 4-3(3), Gabriel Riminton 4-1 and Flora Hodge 4-0. In the main draw, Cummings beat Alexander Bruce in the semi-finals 4-2 and then beat Marcel Jesenko in the final 4-2 to win the event and collect the winners medal.

Head coach James McIntosh said, “Hayden works really hard in his lessons and is progressing all the time, he has done really well to win his first green ball tournament. Well done Hayden, keep up the good work!

Last week Cummings competed in the Winchester Spring Open 2018 in both the 9 & under and 10 & under Boys singles events. After a bye in the first round of the 9 & under competition   he defeated Aidan Hewitt in the second round 7-2, 7-3 followed by a three set defeat of namesake Hayden Mundy 6-8, 7-3,7-4 in the quarters before losing in the semi-final to eventual winner Matteo Mirone 7-3, 8-6.

In the 10 & under event Cummings lost in the first round of the main draw against Michael Mitchell 5-3, 4-2 but then went on to be crowned consolation winner after beating Feliciano Ayala De Carolis 4-0, 4-1, Oliver Flynn 4-1, 4-1 and Jaydan Mitchell in the final  2-4, 4-1,1-0(2).

TT Tour | The Australian Open

The winners have been decided in the first TT Tour event of 2018, the Australian Open held at the indoor centre last weekend.

In the Red event 2017 champion Kevin Karjalainen was the winner and collected the maximum 1,000 Grand Slam points. William Durman was runner-up, Neel Chandrasekar was third, Lottie Blackwell fourth and Ayush Thondapu finished in fifth place. Harry Dolman picked up the maximum points in the Orange event with James Blackwell in second place and Caitlin Manley in third position.

Last years Orange champion Hayden Cummings won the Green event with Nikes Bomma in the runner-up spot, twins Gevin and Guhan Chendilkumar finishing third and fourth respectively and Jack Moria was in fifth place. Tinuke Adelakun won the Yellow competition and Luke Davies was second and Nathan Dolman was third overall.

Points are awarded to the winner, runner-up and third/fourth place players for each event as well as additional points for entering. The Grand Slam events of the Australian Open (25/2), French Open 20/5), Wimbledon (24/6) and the US Open (16/9) offer higher points and all points will be added to each group leaderboard.
