Totally Tennis 10 & Under Team Top The Tennis Hampshire & IOW 2018 League

The Totally Tennis 10 and under team are sitting at the top of Division 1 of the Team Tennis Hampshire & IOW 2018 league after winning both their first two home fixtures 12 – 0 against David Lloyd Southampton A and Kingsley.


In the first fixture the team of Hayden Cummings, Dylan Cooper Kirby and twin brothers Gevin and Guhan Chendhilkumar won all their singles matches; Cummings beat Karol Rzegocki 4-2, 4-0, Cooper Kirby beat Noah Flynn 4-2, 4-1 and Gevin and Guhan both won their matches 4-0, 4-0 against Alexander Roots and Evie Jaynes respectively. In the doubles Cummings/Cooper Kirby beat Rzegocki/Flynn 4-1, 4-2 and the twins didn’t lose a single game defeating Roots/Jaynes 4-0, 4-0.


In the Kingsley fixture, Cummings, Cooper Kirby and Guhan all won their singles matches with 4-0, 4-0 shorelines against Toby Rowe, Edward Goddard and Matthew Craig respectively. Gevin won his match against Jamie Craig 4-0, 4-1 to give the team a 4-0 lead going into the doubles. Cummings/Cooper Kirby then beat Rowe/Goddard 4-1, 4-0 and the Chendhilkumar brother beat the Craigs 4-0, 4-1 to give the team another fallout victory and retain there place at the top of the league.


The team have now played both their home fixtures and face two tough away matches against Portsmouth Tennis Academy (Sunday 20th May) and Winchester Racquets and Fitness (Sunday 17th June) to complete the series.

Catlin Competes in BUCS League

Former Totally Tennis Performance player Stephanie Catlin is keeping up with her tennis career now playing for her university, Oxford Brookes women’s first team in the British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) Tennis league. Catlin, was previously Captain of the University of Northern Colorado (UNC) Bears Women’s Tennis team (Catlin pictured fourth from right below) in the last semester of her senior year while studying for a double major in Sports and Exercise Science and Communication degree at UNC in America.

8473_wAfter completing her four-year tennis scholarship and degree at UNC, Catlin is now studying for a Masters in Sport and Exercise Nutrition at Oxford Brookes back in the UK. She is part of the four women Oxford Brookes 1sts team that have won the BUCS Midland league, winning six and drawing one of their fixtures against Birmingham 1sts, Nottingham 2nd, Nottingham Trent 1st and Warwick 2nd. The team will now compete in the play offs after Easter for a chance to progress into the premier league. In the Women’s Tier 1 Midlands league Catlin is the top ranked player winning all fourteen of her matches (28-1 sets, 166 – 32 games)IMG_3772The team also competed in the BUCS cup progressing to the cup final earlier this month after beating Exeter 3rds, Bournemouth 1st, London Imperial 1sts and Exeter 2nds. In the final the girls played against Northumbria 1sts at the Nottingham Tennis Centre on 13th March, Catlin won both her singles and doubles matches maintaining her season winning record but unfortunately all the other girls lost so the team finished as overall runners-up with a 8 – 4 scoreline.IMG_3773



Fifth Place Finish for Hampshire Court Ladies

The Hampshire Court Ladies Vets team finished fifth overall in Division 1 of the Babolat Hampshire and Isle of Wight Seniors Doubles League after a mixed season of results. In their final match of this years league they faced tough opposition from the West Hants Club ladies from Bournemouth who have won all their matches and will be crowned winners of Division 1. The home fixture saw Sandie Benham, Lesley Miotto, Elaine Whitham and Sally Clackett in action and even though it was a great match the result went to the Bournemouth ladies 4-0 (49 – 25 games).

unnamedBentham and Miotto lost to Carol Dickie/Alison Hockey 7-5, 6-3 and were beaten by Wendy Hewitt/Sue West 6-4, 6-2. Whitham and Clackett suffered a similar fate losing 6-2, 6-4 to Hewitt/West and 6-2, 6-3 against Dickie/Hockey.

One Victory and One Loss for the Ladies

The Hampshire Court Ladies Vets team beat the ladies from Virgin Active Hampshire Club team, Southampton who were 2014 Division 1 winners on home soil in a surprising but resounding victory in the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Babolat Veterans 40+ Summer League. The team of Julie Frankland, Bev Cleaver, Sally Cackett and Elaine Whitham won 6-3 overall (43 games to 33). Frankland/Cleaver results were 4–6, 7–5, (13 – 11) and then 6-1, 7-5 and after losing their first match 6-4, 6-2 Cackett/Whitham won the second 6-3, 6-1

The winning streak didn’t continue as the team of Cackett/Whitham and ChrisTudor/Lesley Miotto lost their away match last week against Milford-on-Sea by six games. Hackett/Whitham won 6-2, 6-3 and then 6-4, 6-4 but Tudor/Miotto lost 6-2, 6-3 and then 6-2, 6-0 although most games did go to deuce!

The ladies will be back in action this Thursday (14th May) with a home fixture against the Riverside team from Salisbury. Good Luck Ladies 😉
