Try our Adult Courses

As part of our popular adult programme we run a number of seven-week adult Beginner and Improver courses on Monday and Thursday evenings throughout the year.  With our indoor courts rain never stops play so courses continue all year round.

4f76318e-dd7f-494c-b4f0-8835764bd3e0Our Beginners course is an introduction to tennis, ideal for those who are new to the game or those who are rusty and want to get back into playing. Basic skills of forehands, backhands, volleys and serves as well as techniques and  tactics of singles and doubles matchplay.  Players can repeat the beginners course if they want to up their confidence before moving onto improvers.

Improvers is the course that provides progression for confident beginners or is equally challenging for those players who have previously received coaching but have not played in a while. The course offers coaching to improve technique and tactics as well as matchplay tips and fine tuning skills.

The Intermediate course (Mondays and Thursdays 7:30pm – 9:00pm) is a 10-week course offering technical and tactical coaching to players moving on from Improvers, for those who have had previous coaching and for those players who have played for a club in a local league. The sessions include a mixture of drills and points play with an end of session doubles match. This course is £135 for ten weeks or you can pay-and-play for £15 per session.

Seven week adult courses cost £77 per player and can be booked in reception or by telephone on 01256 358816. The next block of Monday courses will start from 16th December until 10th February (excluding 23rd and 30th December). Busy coach education weekend at the indoor centre

Totally Tennis’ indoor centre was a hive of activity last weekend with coaching candidates participating in Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) level 1 and 2 courses. The club itself has an excellent track record for developing homegrown coaches with several of the current coaching team making the successful transition from player to coach. The club offers its own mentoring programme as well as LTA coach education courses held throughout the year. This weekend was no exception with yellow squad player Harry Feast starting his LTA coaching journey on the Level 1 course.

Totally Tennis’ Director Nigel Long, who is also a director of UCoach and a LTA Master Tutor, said, “It was fantastic to see so many people at the indoor centre this weekend starting their journey into coaching.”  He added, “Candidates come from all over the country to take courses and we hope that their introduction to coaching will inspire them to continue their journey as well as benefitting the players at their respective clubs.”

bc1033a9-5ac3-41c4-8f19-19c57a879603Totally Tennis is one of three coach education centres operated by UCoach, the others being Batchwood and Sutton, that deliver LTA courses on behalf of the country’s national governing body of tennis. UCoach, the largest coach education provider in the UK trains over 1000 coaches a year from level 1-4. Alongside fellow LTA tutors Long delivers a variety of courses across the various levels at Totally Tennis every year.
