October Half Term 2019

The October half term is already rapidly approaching. Are you looking for healthy alternative for your children in the school holidays where they will have lots of fun and learn a new sport? Totally Tennis has just the answer, the Tennis and Multi-sport camps are the perfect to keep children active whilst having lots of fun, learn a new sport and making new friends.

Packed with opportunities to play tennis and other sports such as basketball, football, hockey and rounders, the sessions will take place at the Indoor Centre in the War Memorial Park, Basingstoke. Camps will running all week from Monday 26th October to Friday 1st November from 9.00am – 4.00pm (full day*) and bookable in various options (morning, afternoon and full-day).

Tennis camps are great fun and include lots of games and mini-competitions for both new and experienced players alike for all children aged four to fifteen years. It’s a safe environment with Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) fully qualified, licensed and experienced coaches and the centre has OFSTED accreditation.

Prickett Wins Half Term Title

Totally Tennis performance player Daniel Prickett won the 16U Boys Singles title at David Lloyd Southampton October Half Term Tournament 2018.

In the first round he beat Franko Stoman 6-0, 6-3 followed by a tough match against second seed Connor Turner 6-2, 6-7(6), 10-4 in round two. He then defeated eighth seed Jed Voysey 7-5, 6-4 in the quarters and third seed George Russell in the semis  6-3, 0-6, 10-4. In the final he beat fourth seed Owen Martel 7-5, 6-2 to win the title.

Totally Tennis mini tennis players Hayden Cummings, Harry Dolman and twins Gevin and Guhan Chendhilkumar also all competed in the half term event. Cummings was the consolation runner-up in the 10U Boys Singles event. He lost in the first round of the main draw against Aidan Hewitt 4-1, 4-2 but then defeated wild card Marcin Kornijczuk in the consolation quarters 4-1, 4-0 followed by  Theodor Kraytchev 4-1, 4-0 in the semis before battling in the three set final against Yinghan Ho 4-0, 2-4, 13-11 to finish as runner-up.

The Chendhilkumar brothers were both also knocked out of the main draw in the first round. Gevin lost to Felix Inglis 5-3, 4-1 and then Jaydan Mitchell 4-0, 4-0 in the consolations quarters. Guhan was beaten by Alec Vaughan 4-0, 4-0 and then by eventual consolation winner Ho in the consolation quarters 4-0, 4-0. In the 9U Boys Singles Dolman played in group D and went out of the competition after coming third in the box.

Half Term Runners-Up Title for Hignett and Reid

Totally Tennis performance players Isla Hignett and Tillie Reid were runners-up in the 14 and under Girls Doubles event held at the David Lloyd Southampton October Half Term Tournament. In the round robin event the girls played three matches beating Magda Kornijczuk and Thea Sprawson 4-1, 4-1, Grace Williams and Katy Jarvis 5-3, 4-2. but lost to overall winners Paulina Jurkowska and Annalise Smith 4-0, 4-2. 

The pair were also third in the Haslemere 16U Doubles Winter County Tournament held earlier this month. In the quarters, the girls beat Giulia Lesa and Valentina Carrier 4-1, 4-2 but unfortunately then lost in the semis to eventual runners-up Grace Williams and Katy Jarvis 4-3(4), 4-2. The girls went onto win the third/fourth playoff match beating Kira Turpin and Elle Wright 4-0, 4-0 to finish in third place overall.
