As part of the successful Totally Tennis schools programme the club will be visiting local schools next week to deliver tennis assemblies and invite the pupils to attend a FREE junior tennis open day at the club on Saturday 28th September. The LTA Big Tennis Weekends initiative is designed to give children an opportunity to try tennis at the club on real tennis courts with LTA qualified coaches.
Tennis Director Nigel Long said “Our coaches have been visiting Basingstoke schools for many years and have, over that time, given thousands of children who might not otherwise have the opportunity to try tennis and realise all the benefits that the sport can bring.”
The Totally Tennis schools programme has not only given children the opportunity to play tennis but also produced countless players and coaches over the years. Some of these players have represented their respective schools and the club in many competitions, even winning National titles. The club also runs curriculum and after school sessions as well as the annual schools tournaments at the indoor centre.
Next week Head Coach James Mcintosh will visit Sherborne St. John, Kempshott and Winklebury. Like your school to be involved? Telephone 01256 358816 for more information. The Open Day will take place from 1:00pm – 2:30pm on Saturday 28th September at the indoor centre located in the War Memorial Park – it’s FREE to attend and everyone is welcome.
Children who attend the open day will be invited to join our junior development squad programme. For more information about the junior squad programme telephone 01256 358816or e-mail email@example.com or visit our website here and read all our latest news on our blog here
