Jubin and Jordan Win Again

Last Friday Head Coach James McIntosh and partner Simon James took on the younger duo of Ben Jubin and Jamie Jordan in the re-match of last year’s first Coaches Exhibition, which saw Jubin/Jordan victorious. This year’s match took place on the newly painted outdoor courts at the indoor centre and the well publicised event attracted a good crowd. Fellow coach Shyam Vithlani was on official duty in the umpire chair with performance players Liam Hignett, Miles Bromilow and Aaron Dawson all ball boys and Isla Hignett and Jasmine Bromilow the ball girls. The courts weren’t the only bright colours on show as Jubin and Jordan played in vivid green and orange and the bold colour choice paid off as the duo were victorious again this year and retained their crown winning 6-4, 7-5 overall and kept their bragging rights safe for until next year.

The latest Adult Social event followed the match, with the large match crowd staying on to attend the quiz night. The quiz was followed by a prize draw with some Wimbledon tickets and everyone enjoyed a meal of chilli prepared by office manager Emily Clark.

FullSizeRender-49FullSizeRender-50Tennis Director Nigel Long said “It was great to see so many people turn up to watch the coaches play in the exhibition match. The quiz and the chilli were also a great success and we are really pleased for all those people that won Wimbledon tickets in the prize draw.” He added “We hope that everyone will support us again at the Great British Tennis Weekend next month.”

Coaches Jubin and Jordan Victorious

Last Friday’s warm and clear spring evening was a perfect setting for coaches James McIntosh and Simon James to take on the younger duo of Ben Jubin and Jamie Jordan in the Coaches Exhibition Match. The well publicised event attracted a crowd of sixty-five people and fellow coach Ben Clarke was on official duty in the umpire chair. Jubin and Jordan were victorious in the close match, winning the first set in the 7 point tie break 7-6 and then winning the second set 7-5 resulting in overall victory and bragging rights.

Jubin said, “Jamie and I would like to thank our fans, it was great to prove everyone wrong who didn’t have faith in us. It doesn’t matter how much you train when you have talent like ours. It was a great night.”

James added “Playing in the match was good fun, and I think all the coaches enjoyed themselves. I hope that the match was enjoyable to watch and based on some of the feedback after, I definitely think we will do this again next year. The two sides were very even and anyone could have won on the day, however this time round Jamie and Ben won which was well deserved.”
