Performance players Isla Hignett and Tillie Reid won the 18 and under Girls doubles title at the Witney Open Junior Tennis Tournament 2018 held in Oxfordshire.

Liam Hignett and his partner Ryan Golesworthy (bottom left) won the Open Men’s Doubles title at the Winchester Spring Open 2018, Hignett as runner-up in the Men’s singles (top left).

Chandrasekars Win The Quorn™ Family Tennis Cup

Neel Chandrasekar and his father Chandri were the winners of The Quorn™ Family Tennis Cup that took place at the indoor centre on Saturday run by performance player and assistant coach Miles Bromilow.

Even thought there was a disappointing turnout in terms of entries the juniors and their respective parents enjoyed their matches. The Chandrasekars beat Roksana Jelonek and her father Chris 10-6 and Aaditya Kumar and his father Raj 10-2. The Jeloneks were runners-up after they defeated the Kumars 10-6.

The Chandrasekars have won the opportunity to spend a day at a LTA grass court major event in June. In addition to watching all the on court action, they will also have the chance to play against other winners on the day.

Bromilow said of the event, “I would like to congratulate all of the competitors and especially Neel and his father for winning this Years Quorn Family Cup” he added, “The winning pair will now enjoy one of the LTAs premier grass court events and play against other event winners. Good Luck!!

The Quorn™ Family Tennis Cup is a nationwide Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) event designed to give families the opportunity to play tennis in an informal, fun competition run at their local venue such as Totally Tennis. It not only encourages families to play more tennis together but also to eat healthy food to complement an active lifestyle.

The Quorn™ Family Tennis Cup 2018

The Quorn™ Family Tennis Cup will be taking place at Totally Tennis’ indoor centre on Saturday 21st April run by performance player and assistant coach Miles Bromilow.

This nationwide Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) event is designed to give families the opportunity to play tennis in an informal, fun competition run at their local venue such as Totally Tennis. It not only encourages families to play more tennis together but also to eat healthy food to complement an active lifestyle.

 

All juniors players aged 10 & under can enter along with an adult family member to compete in the red ball competition, it can be any adult family member (aged 18 or over) such as a parent, guardian, uncle, auntie, sibling or grandparent.

In addition to watching all the on court action, the winning pair will also have the chance to play against other winners on the day.

The tournament will start at 1:00 pm and will run till approximately 4:00pm (dependent on number of entries). The cost of the event will be £10 per pair. Please call reception on 01256 358816 to book.

Bromilow said of the upcoming event, “The Quorn Family Cup provides the perfect opportunity for our young players to compete with a family member against their club mates.” he added, “I’m looking forward to seeing who will be more competitive, the juniors or the adults.”

“As well as being a fun event, the winners will also get to experience one of the UK’s major grass court events and get a close up of what it takes to be a professional player.”

The Quorn Family Tennis Cup

Totally Tennis hosted The Quorn Family Tennis Cup on Saturday 7th May at the indoor centre in the War Memorial Park. The Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) event, run by coach Nick Dingwall, was a parent and child tournament that give families the opportunity to compete in an informal and fun competition. The event was also an opportunity to promote playing tennis more frequently and eat healthy food as part of an active lifestyle.

This particular event was a Red Ball (Juniors 10 and under playing with family member aged 18 or over) competition with the winners of each event throughout the country earning the opportunity of a day out at a Quorn Family Tennis Cup event held on the qualifying weekend of a LTA grass court major event in May or June. Each pair will have the chance to play against other winners on the day as well as watch the professional players in action.

Eight pairs entered the tournament which was run as a round robin event, with the top two winners from each box going through to the main draw semi-finals and the bottom two pairs going through to a consolation semi-finals. The winners were Hayden Cummings and his dad Ben with Luke McDermott and his father finishing as runners up. The Cummings, who were joined in the event by younger and older sons duo Ellis and Jordan, received prizes and will now compete in the regional event. All participants received a certificate for entering and some goodies of their own, a fun day was had by everyone.image2
