The Chendhilkumar twins were back in action in the 9 and under Mixed singles at the David Lloyd US Open tournament held at the end of last month at the David Lloyd Club Worthing, West Sussex.
Brothers Gevin and Guhan both played really well and made it through to the final with Gevin beating his brother to take the gold medal. Both boys had a bye in the first round followed by wins in the quarters, Gevin defeating Benjamin Casse 7-5, 7-4 and Guhan beating Ethan Clark 7-5, 7-5.
In the semis Gevin beat Paul Staton 7-5, 7-3 and Guhan won in three sets against Oscar Douse 5-7, 7-3, 7-6. In the final Gevin beat Guhan 7-3, 7-3 to win the event and lift the trophy.
Totally Tennis mini tennis players Guhan and Gevin Chendhilkumar participated in their first external tennis tournament outside the club last weekend. The twin brothers competed in the 9 and under Boys Singles event which was part of the Leys Mini Tennis Tournament in Oxford.
The tournament was played in a round robin format with the brothers competing is different boxes. In Group A, Guhan unfortunately lost his three matches 10-6, 10-7 and 10-4 respectively and finished in fourth place. Gevin fairer better in Group B where he finished third beating William White 10-4 but losing his other two matches 10-2 including his match against eventual event winner Shay Corcoran.
The brothers then played each other in an epic match that Gevin just edged 10-9. Gevin then defeated Benjamin Seville 10-5 to finish in fifth place overall.
