Home Win For Totally Tennis U10 Dream Team

The Totally Tennis 10 and under Mixed team won their latest fixture against Winchester Racquets and Fitness 6-0 in the Hampshire & IOW Winter Junior League 2018 – 2019. The dream team of Hayden Cummings, Nikesh Bomer and brother Guhan and Gevin Chendhilkumar kept a clean sheet in the home match winning all the singles and doubles matches.

2ba2e3c2-d053-45ca-8165-22ede55917c2.jpgIn the singles Cummings won 4-0, 4-2, Guhan 4-0, 4-2, Gevin 4-1, 4-0 and Nikesh 4-0, 4-0. In the doubles Cummings/Guhan won their match 4-0, 4-1 and Bomer/Gevin were victorious 4-2, 4-0.

Coach Jamie Jordan said, “The boys all played very well dominating every point. They continually work hard in the tennis lessons with James and myself and results like this show how much they are all improving together.” he added, “Totally Tennis are very proud of these boys please keep the good work up!

Other teams competing in the league are David Lloyd Southampton A, David Lloyd Southampton B, Winchester Racquets and Fitness and Portsmouth Tennis Academy. Totally Tennis’ next match is away against David Lloyd Southampton A on 25th November.

U10 Team Win the Aegon Team Tennis League

The Totally Tennis U10 team have won the Aegon Team Tennis Hampshire & IOW 2017 10&U Mixed Division league. The team of Oliver Alemany, Eddie Lakatos, Daniel Ward, Ollie Steer and Faith Tompkins were up against teams from David Lloyd Southampton, Winchester and Portsmouth Tennis Academy.
They won their first match against David Lloyd Southampton 8-4 with Alemany, Lakatos and Ward all winning their singles to be 3-1 up and then Alemany/Lakatos securing overall victory by winning their doubles match 4-2, 4-2. Unfortunately Winchester then withdrew from the division so the deciding fixture was against Portsmouth Tennis Academy who had already beaten David Lloyd Southampton.
 In the fixture against Portsmouth Alemany and Lakatos both won their singles matches 4-0, 4-1 and Steer won 4-0, 4-0. In the doubles Tompkins/Steer won their three set match 4-2, 0-4, 1-0 to secure another 8 – 4 victory and win the league.
Head coach James Macintosh said, “Well Done to Oliver, Eddie Lakatos, Ward, Ollie and Tompkins who were all part of the team that won the division. It’s a fantastic achievement for all the players and we hope to continue to have more success in future team tennis events.

County Cup Selection

Totally Tennis performance players Liam Hignett and Miles Bromilow have both been selected to represent Hampshire as part of this years U14 County Cup team. Team captain Paul Scullard has chosen six players to play the upcoming fixture in Sutton next weekend, 3rd – 5th of May. The team of Hignett, Bromilow, Ryan Hutchinson, Jake Norris, Matthew Whitehead and Jin Zizheng will play in Group E and face opposition from teams rom the Channel Islands, Devon, Dorset, Sussex and Somerset in their group.

Head Coach James Mcintosh said “Both Liam and Miles’s hard work in training and competitions has been rewarded by being selected for the U14’s County Cup team. The boys had to attend to two training sessions with other players in their age group and from those training sessions the team was selected.” He added ” It’s a great opportunity for the both boys to be part of the team, County Cup is always an enjoyable weekend for the players and there is a good atmosphere and team spirit.”

Keeping it in the family, mini performance player Isla Hignett has also been selected to represent the county as part of the Girls Under 10 Hampshire County Cup team. The team, who will play in Group F, consists of Eliza Wheeler, Hannah Smith and Rina Hayamizu with Hignett and Anna Vinnell as travelling reserves. Reserves may get the opportunity to play but are not guaranteed matches but it’s still a great achievement to be selected as part of the team. Competition will take place in Brighton and Hove on 31st May/1st June against teams from Dorset, Kent, Sussex and Surrey. Teammate Aaron Dawson has also been selected to represent the county in the Boys U10 competition and will face teams from Buckinghamshire, Dorset, Kent, Sussex and Surrey in Group F that will be played in Bromley in Kent over the same weekend.

McIntosh said “Two of our U10 mini performance players have also been selected for the County Cup. Isla was selected for the U10 Girls and Aaron Dawson has been selected to play in U10 Boys team. It is a great opportunity for these two to represent Hampshire & IOW and will be a thoroughly enjoyable experience to play as part of a team.”
