Totally Tennis Performance player Liam Hignett and partner Louis Allen were crowned Men’s Open Doubles champions at the Frost & Co Dorset Open 2016 (formerly the Dorset Open) held at the East Dorset Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club in Poole.
After a bye in the quarter finals the boys defeated Charlie Newman and Benjamin Vulliamy in the semis 6-3, 6-4 and Patrik Hyde and Billy Wright in the final 6-4, 6-2 to win the event. In the Men’s Open singles Hignett, who was seeded fourth, lost in the semi finals to top seed and eventual winner Alex White 6-1, 6-2. On route to the semis he beat Wright 6-4, 6-2 in the second round and fifth seed David Brehme in the quarters 7-6(5), 6-1. Third seed and doubles partner Allen also lost in the semis to second seed Millen Huron 7-6(6), 6-4.
In the 18U Boys Doubles Hignett and Allen finished as runners-up after beating Newman and Vulliamy 6-3, 6-2 but losing to Hyde and Wright in a very close match 6-3, 2-6, 13-15.
